Donations

"Can I donate books to the library?"

Yes, you are welcome to donate books to the library, and a big thank you for thinking of us! Please read through the following post before you bring any books into the school, as there are a few conditions I ask you to consider before making a donation.

First and foremost, the book(s) have to be in really good condition. No rips or tears, no water damage, no stains, no broken bindings, etc.

Once you have made sure everything you'd like to donate is clean and in good shape, please look at when it was published, particularly for non-fiction.

If you have non-fiction books you'd like to donate, please make sure they are current. Ideally, I'd like the non-fiction collection to include nothing published before 2005. Now, with some non-fiction, like cookbooks or craft books for example, that date is more flexible. But if it's a science book from the 1970s, that's another story. Please note that the library can't accept encyclopedias on any topic.

And please understand I'm not necessarily going to take every book donated and use it in the collection. Some books just won't fit into the overall plan. Any books donated that don't go into the collection, will be passed along to an organization who can use them, or recycled.

If you have any questions about donations, I invite you to contact me at emillar@wqsb.qc.ca
